Two days ago a transcript of this blog was sent to the General Teaching Council for England. Esp. the tread about not giving the OH nurse the full facts.

damned by your own words.

(Cat, I'm a friend of B. I read your post and the reply over her shoulder and felt so angry and wanted to be supportive, so I posted a reply...)

As far as it goes, as a comment on the Anonymous poster, I think their actions are pretty despicable. In my typical way I'm actually being understated here. I think their actions are totally despicable. The fact that they would do something like that and not have the courage of their convictions to actually identify themselves by putting their name at the end of their comment just underlines what a nasty piece of work they are. In case they're reading this, I hope you rot.

It takes a lot of courage to face up to difficult things that happen in life and even more courage to discuss them openly. The fact that you posted to your blog openly about stuff that you're facing up to and , (successfully) dealing with speak volumes about you and the kind of person you are.

Just because you've had bad stuff happen to you, (and I've just read the blog entry...) doesn't disqualify you from being a teacher. If anything, as far as I'm concerned, it makes you a better teacher than someone who's sailed through life and never had to deal with any tough situations.

The fact that someone has exploited this I think is a very sad comment on them and not a comment on you at all.

Have a hug, (but only if you want one...)

I'm sorry to invade your journal like this again, Cat, but this to 'Anonymous':

Who are you and, more to the point, who on earth do you think you are? Come on, I think it's about time you owned up, don't you? What you're doing isn't fair.

What is your problem with Cat??? She has done absolutely nothing wrong. A number of us have known her for many years and have seen her through the times she so courageously spoke about here, and all you seem to want to do is drag her down and put an end to her progress. What kind of person does that make you? Someone who is doing this out of genuine concern or someone who is doing this out of spite?

She hasn't 'damned' herself, as you so gleefully put it. She went to the OH appointment willing to talk and, by the sounds of it, wasn't given much chance. She can hardly be accused of withholding information since the OH department undoubtedly can obtain copies of any notes it sees fit to read.

Last time I checked, having a mental health history wasn't a crime and if the Dept. for Education decides to follow this up then I have no doubts that they'll rule Cat fit to be a teacher.

I don't know what to say to you because I can only take wild guesses as to who you might be since you don't seem willing to put yourself on the line for what you're saying about Cat, but I think you're being cruel and malicious. Guess your much sought after career isn't terribly fulfilling?

" And this is from Anonymous?
Carry on posting folks.
Here's an oxymoron for you:
Psychopath - Teacher.

We care about Cat hence the hugs. If you don't, that fine on some levels, (you don't have to like her...) but you could act like a person with some grain of humanity and just LEAVE HER ALONE.

psychopath: A person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behaviour without empathy or remorse.

sounds just like you, anonymous. funny that.

go away.

Well 'B' seeings as you are not medically qualified to make that judgement, and I know you are not. I think I will just let that pass Becks.

By the way I am qualified to make that judgement. And is one listened to by the relevent authorities.

Why have the threads disappeared if they were innocuos mmmm?

Bye bye

i never claimed i was medically qualified, i merely drew my conclusion from a dictionary definition, from my experience of working with people legally defined as having psychopathic disorder, and from all the years i have known cat.

am i supposed to feel threatened by the fact you've used my name?

i find it quite scary that you are medically qualified. it's a shame i don't know who you are really. i wonder what your professional body would make of you harrassing people anonymously over the internet?

Cat I left a comment in the other box and then came down and read this feed. I am utterly shocked and despite the behaviour of the person who has played on your worst fears. No doubt 'anonymous' thinks that he is by virtue of medical or other qualification therefore entitled to use his 'power'? in this way - people who can't see the grey shades in life shouldn't have that kind of power. And I speak as one whose daily work involves occasionally making difficult decisions about when to intervene in risky situations. 'Psychopath'? - qualified or not, 'anonymous' - get a grip. I know of no qualification that allows you to apply such a label on the back of reading some diary entries, and certainly none that would consider the way you have intervened here good practice.
I know umpteen people who have gone to see OH professionals and been or felt totally unable to be open about what had gone before. And at the end of the day ,what has Cat even done? She has stated she has never been given formal diagnosis of 'p.d' and she got lonely one day and wanted to be near someone she felt safe around.
yeah, you're right, 'anonymous'. that does warrant labelling her a psychopath and trying to ruin her career. Game on.

I think the fact that so many people have come on here to support Cat probably says more about her than any nasty person could. Ever.

Cat, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If anonymous had the medical qualifications and clout with the GTC he/she claimed, he/she would know that 1. the term "psychopath" has been obselete for some time 2. threatening people online breaches all professional codes of ethics and would make he/she liable for reporting. Let's face it, the GTC will be reading his/her comments here now too...

Hi Cat
just wanting to say I agree with all your friends and I am right behind you. Your honesty and integrity are being used against you but not for long. Get some good legal help with the GTC business if it comes to that. Look after yourself, will be checking your blog.

relevent: do you mean relevant?

innocuos: do you mean innocuous?

By the way I am qualified to make that judgement. And is one listened to by the relevent authorities

I is one: what lovely use of grammar!

Sentences shouldn't start with and.

Sharon, your spelling and grammar haven't improved much, have they?

I am truly appauled by the behaviour of 'anonymous' - and intrigued by their naming of everyone else apart from themselves. That shows only cowardice.

Do they truly hold any power? I doubt it. Are they stirring to cause upset and confusion. I think so.

Sadly, many of these 'replies' and posts of 'support', are in fact Cat posting under assumed names (even some of the Anon ones) - she has been doing this for some time now. Please show some compassion folks, this lady is indeed in crisis, and may need more help than we realise.
